Think Pink

In preparation for the Bug's 3rd birthday party yesterday we all got pink toes.

It was the man's idea! So much fun.

(and the party was a great success. Photos to come. )

Our corn field

The corn has really taken off. So cool.

And we even have ears coming in.

Nice way to start the Memorial day weekend. Enjoy yourselves.

And I am so excited. I am a bit of a fair fanatic. You know, the local fair that has animals and flowers, and rides and carnies, and food, and jams and jellies and other made things. And the Halls of Crap! Those are my favorite. We have three big halls where all sorts of things are hawked. Basically anything As Seen On TV can be bought at the fair. It is so amusing to me.

And that is very unusual as I grew up here and I still love the fair. Most people from this area do not like it, or really just don't care. Not me! I love it! And I am slowly converting those I know into fans as well. Well, most of them.

A few years ago a friend was telling me that her boyfriend really wasn't into it so they probably weren't going to join us that year. No sweat. Well, I talked to him a few days later and he asked when we could go. Aha! Who doesn't really like it? Teasing ensued from that one.

I hate to say it but I have a few different fair stories to share. Bear with me.

Watching corn grow....

We have planted corn this year in the garden. Mostly so that Bug can see things grow and hopefully be able to eat it. She loves corn. And I am amazed at how fast it grows. We put it in the middle of the orchard* and I am curios to see how tall it will actually get. Hopefully it doesn't block the rest of the garden, namely the zucchini plants.

I'm trying to record the growth. Here is the progression so far.

We put in 4 seedlings, the four in the back, and the rest are from seed and are catching up. Very fun to watch.

*And by orchard I mean an area that has a lemon, lime, orange, tangerine and apricot tree. I guess that is kind of close to an orchard. In my world.

New life

I don't know if you will be able to make this out but we have a nest of newly hatched finches under our eaves.

And I mean newly hatched! We have another nest with babies that are a few days older in another location but it is not in a place to take a pic.

Spring is truly sprung!

The BEST chocolate chip cookies....Seriously

These are so much better than the 'back of the package' kind....

2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips - the better quality the better

bake at 375 degrees for about 8-10 minutes
